Century for Dutch Master as Arsenal gain big 3 points

Arsenal gained a big 3 points at the Emirates with a second half demolition of a resilient Bolton side, with a bit of luck and the shear class of the Arsenal Internationals shining through, Arsenal breezed to 3 points.

But, it wasn't as easy as in the second as it was in the first half though, Arsenal didnt get out of the blocks quick at all, as Bolton gained a free kick just inside the Arsenal half, in the first minute or so, they sent two men up against six Arsenal defenders, surely no problem, wrong, it was lifted in, David Wheater won the header at the far post with two or three Arsenal defenders standing staring as the ball came across to Darrern Pratley, who's inventive back-heel strike forced an outstanding save from Wojciech Szczesney.

Arsenal struggled to get started really in the whole first 45mins, Robin Van Persie came closest with a well worked free kick, just shaving the far post with Jaaskelinen left standing. Arsenal had a couple good attacks, Gervinho was Arsenal's brightest spark in the first half he whizzed a shot over the bar, Theo Walcott sprinted down the left and from my view it seemed it impossible for Van Persie not to score, but a great block from Zat Knight saved the day. 10mins before half time, David Ngog limped off after a clash with Laurent Koscileny, Kevin Davies, his replacement, caused absolute havock with Per Mertesacker, the 6ft plus giant couldn't handle the strength and persistence of Davies who nearly profited after a slick Bolton break resulted with Martin Petrov's through ball just too heavy for Davies, as he was clear through. 0-0 at half time, with Arsenal fans starting to tense about that first half performance.

Second half, Arsenal fans screamed as they kicked off, hopin for an attacking start from the Gunners, that's excatly what they got, Gervinho got the ball just inside the Bolton half and was chopped down, referee played a great advantage, Aaron Ramsey burst on to the ball, lovely ball to Van Persie, he skipped past Wheater and drilled in past Jaaskelinen at his near post, after just 40 seconds gone! His 99th for Arsenal and suddenly, I felt the tension and nervousness of the Arsenal fans start to dissapear, as the chant "1-0 to the Arsenal" was a glad sound.

Arsenal never looked back, Theo Walcott started to stretch his legs, he got on to a brillaint thorugh ball from Van Persie and was clear through and was hauled down by David Wheater, no suprise as to what was the result, Red Card, as the horror start to the half continued for Bolton, Arsenal started to punish Bolton and looked liked scoring on every attack, with Arteta, Gervinho, Van Persie and Koscielny all going close, before the moment all Arsenal fans wanted. Walcott was destroying Paul Robinson, although some twit behind didnt think so, they got a throw, and he shouted, " Oi, Theo you lazy waste, get involved, look intrested". I totally disagreed, he was one of our best players on the day, well Theo reacted, played a great one-two with Gibbs, tore past Robinson and delivered a peach of a cross right on to RVP's foot, he made it look so easy, an equisite finish, 2-0 and his 100th for Arsenal as all of us united in chanting his name for about 5 mins.

My Dad was teasing me about this being a 6 pointer, relegation battle as Arsenal were 17th, Bolton 18th, so after 2-0 all of the Arsenal fans chanted, "We are staying up", hilarious!! Bolton fans werent amused, but they did fashion one chance, a quick break with Chris Eagles running through, didnt have the stamina and his shot was staright at Szczesny as Gibbs was putting him under pressure. Arsenal kept at it and derservedly got a 3rd, great work from Bacary Sagna, his cross to Song on the edge was put away with a plom in to the top corner.

So overall a great game with lows but mostly highs for the Gunners, a big 3 points as big games in the Champions League and at Tottenham to come, we could be 5th this time next week, lets just wait and see!

Sams Summary of Sport

Another great weekend of Sport, here's what the topics are this week:

. Premier League

. Champions League Draw

. RBS Six Nations

Premier League

Another fascinating weekend in one of the worlds biggest and most exciting leagues in the world. United and Arsenal pushing for the title ahead of this weekend, Arsenal on the back of three straight defeats in three competitions, United in the Quarters of the Champions League and Semi Finals of the FA Cup, but struggling with injuries.

Here's how they got on:
Man Utd 1-0 Bolton                      A last ditch winner from sub Berbatov saves United after
Berbatov (88)                             a game which seemed like Bolton maybe snatching it.
Evans                                        Especially after, Jonny Evans was dismissed after a
collision with Stuart Holden. But United dug out the vital
3 points after Nani's shot was spilled for Berba to steal in.

West Brom 2-2 Arsenal                  Manuel Almunia will glad to see this result, especially
Reid (3)            Arshavin (70)        after a howler mistake letting in Odemwingie to score,
Odemwingie     Van Persie (78)      thankfully Arsenal came back with a stunner from
(58)                                             Arshavin and a scrappy one from Robin Van Persie,
Arsenal now 5 points off United with a game in hand.

Tottenham 0-0 West Ham
Wigan 2-1 Birmingham - Cleverly (25), Figueroa (90) - Ridgewell (6)

The Relegation Scrap is getting even more intresting, Wolves are starting to come into form after beating a falling Villa, their fans are calling for the sack of manager Gerrard Houllier even before the game. Wigan stay bottom because of Wolves' win even though they pulled off a last minute win over Carling Cup winners Birmingham, who since then haven't looked very stirdy at the back. Blackburn and Blackpool served up a game of two halfs and bad descisions, the return of skipper Charlie Adam ignited Blackpool after his two goals, the penalty didn't look very convincing though as Ian Holloway admitted after the game that Webb got it wrong. Although the free kick was exquisite from Adam into the top corner. The second half was completly different with Blackburn skipper Samba causing havoc in the Blackpool penalty box and then converting cooly after a melee in the box. Then two descisions against Gary Taylor Fletcher cost Blackpool 3 points, first a goal kick given for what should've been at least a corner if not a foul. Then a free kick against him on the haf way line for nothing really, leading to a scrap in the box and a cool header from Junior Hoillet. West Ham held on at Spurs for an impressive point their and mid table Stoke demolished Newcastle in the second half at the Brittania Stadium.

The Champions League Draw

Spurs got the tie of the round after getting Real Madrid following their scalp of AC Milan, Barca face dark horses Shakter Donesk, who beat Roma and Arsenal in the groups, they await the winners of Spurs vs Real. Defending Champs Inter face Shalke, led by the inspirational Raul, Inters dodgy defence could come into play again against German opposition after seeing off Bayern. Fianally Chelsea face off against Man Utd in their 4th clash of the season with United winning at home as did Chelsea, but an injury plagued defence for United could cost them everything. Whereas, Chelsea have red hot new man David Luiz at the back, he scored at Stamford Bridge in this meeting a few weeks ago.  Fernando Torres still hasn't scored for Chelsea but has done well against United in the past for Chelsea, also has a good record in the Champo League for Athletico and Liverpool, is this his moment?????

RBS Six Nations

A high drama last week of the Six Nations ended in disaster for England and Wales, even though England came away with the trophy but no Grand Slam. Ireland ended on a high after a dodgy and out of form tournament, also with Brian O'Driscoll scoring a tournament record 25th try in the 5/6 Nations. England were torn apart losing 24-8 and easily could've been more!!! Wales were completley out classed by France losing 28-9, they ended up from nearly first to 4th behind France and Ireland. Finally Scotland scored their first tries of the tournament in a 21-8 victory, Italy finish with the wooden spoon, but they did pull off the scalp of France a couple of weeks ago, so not all bad for the Italians.
